About Us

The largest and closest sod farm to St. John's, Newfoundland

Miao's Sod Farm is the largest and closest sod farm to St. John's, Newfoundland, providing top-quality Kentucky Bluegrass sod. We took over Polar Farm in 2015 and Hussey’s Sodding Service in 2017, expanding our capacity and service area. Originally, these locations were boggy lands with poor drainage, but through over 20 years of dedicated land clearing, road construction, and drainage improvements, we have transformed them into highly productive sod farms.

Today, our farm spans 80 acres and produces over 2 million square feet of sod during our four-month operating season. We supply high-quality sod to residential, commercial, and industrial clients throughout the St. John's region, selling between 1.2 to 1.5 million square feet annually, depending on weather and market demand. Our commitment to quality ensures that every roll of sod meets the highest standards for durability, appearance, and health.

With all major infrastructure, we operate efficiently with a full range of well-maintained farming equipment, including sod cutters, tractors, seeders, sprayers, and delivery trucks. Moving forward, our focus is on reseeding after each harvest, ensuring sustainable production and consistent supply for years to come.
